Is that 180 degrees on the Latitude scale closest to your position? (Dive Leader talk that!)

According to Randalls they can grow to 2.7m so ours was not quite fully grown but it was a good 6 foot long.

Dermot - Sarah was diving with me and it was bigger than I was, so from a datum point of view it was XXXL at least.

Dave - is that Fish from Marillion?

Ladies and Gents,

The container of round Tuits arrived in Oman so I can finally get to work......

The 3rd and 4th stage head is now off Big Blue and is sitting at my workshop steps.....it's too heavy for me to lift in! So the chain hoist will be out tonight and tomorrow I can start removing the 4th stage piston from where I have got it stuck. The bore can then be cleaned out and the piston fitted properly. It's all so much easier when you are not lying on the floor in 40degC!

More progress reports later......

Ladies and Gents,

I forgot to mention....the boat now has a fuel guage fitted and working.

It showed about half full on Friday and after putting in 220lts it showed full. So it looks like it works as the tank should be 570lts.

Dermot's and Steve's calculations show that the boat uses about 35 - 40 lts per hour so unless we are going to the Damaniyats or Ras Abu Dowd a half tank should be good for day to day diving - it is over 5 hours of running at 25kts!

Short up-date:

Having spoken to the owner of the Dhow, he has requested we depart on the second day of Eid (the first day being important for Omani's to be with their families).

Looking at a lunar forecast, the moon will be visible on the 9th. This means that the first day of Eid should be Friday 10th Sept. Consequently we could load-out on the 10th and depart early on the 11th.

Hopefully this may allow a few more members to commit.

Steve
